Sealed With The Holy Spirit

In my recent newsletter titled "Jesus Culture," I highlighted how the Israelites were instructed to continuously remind themselves and their children of God's commandments. By doing so, they would prosper and inherit the promised land that the Lord had prepared for them. God desires that they remember, act upon, and impress His commandments upon future generations. One method of reinforcing this remembrance was by putting symbols on their hands and foreheads.

Dueteronomy 11:18 Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads.

Exodus 13: 9 This observance will be for you like a sign on your hand and a reminder on your forehead that this law of the LORD is to be on your lips. For the LORD brought you out of Egypt with his mighty hand.

It is no coincidence that the beast will also force his mark on the hand or the forehead of people, so they worship him and operate only on his authority.

Revelations 13:16 It also forced all people, great and small, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads, 17 so that they could not buy or sell unless they had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of its name.

Through the body and blood of Jesus Christ, we have entered into the new and better covenant, and the Lord has poured out His Spirit upon us. His commandments are now inscribed upon our hearts and minds (Hebrews 9:10-12, Jeremiah 31:33-34). We no longer rely on external signs and symbols for reminders; rather, His Spirit will guide, instruct, and illuminate us regarding His word and His will.

John 14: 26 But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you

The Holy Spirit within us will guide us to our ultimate destination. God guarantees this, ensuring it will unquestionably come to pass.

Ephesians 1: 13 And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, 14 who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.

While the mark of the beast led to eternal damnation and the wrath of God (Revelations 14:9,10), the mark of the Holy Spirit led to eternal glory and the favour of God.

We belong to Him and He confirms His ownership of us by filling us with His Spirit.

2 Corinthians 1: 21 Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, 22 set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.

Let us faithfully follow His Spirit all the days of our life because He knows the way home to the Father. He guarantees it. In our final destination, we will dwell with Him and His mark will be on us.

Revelations 22: 4 They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads.

Come, Holy Spirit.
