House of Miracles

Our Lord Jesus promised that He is building His church (Matthew 16:18) and has invited each of us to accompany Him to see firsthand what He is doing (John 1:38).

Some time ago Father God reminded me His church is going to be a house of miracles. When I heard those words, I immediately recalled Gideon’s questions to God, “…If the Lord is with us, why then [are we suffering all this oppression]? Where are all the Lord’s miracles that our fathers told us about [their miraculous deliverance] from Egypt?’” (Judges 6:13)

The Holy Spirit then reminded me of what the Lord Jesus said to the Jews who wanted to kill Him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner. For the Father loves the Son and shows Him all things that He Himself does; and He will show Him greater works than these, that you may marvel.” John 5:19-20

At the pool of Bethesda were ‘a great multitude of sick people’ (John 5:1-9). Jesus had the power to heal all of those sick people yet He only healed one man. Why? Because He only did what He saw the Father doing.  God had His glorious reasons for healing just one man that day, and we don’t know what they were, but His ways are unassailably higher than ours (Isaiah 55:8-9).

I wonder if the reason we have so little power now is because the Father can’t yet trust us to only do what He shows us to do. I think if I had been at Bethesda Pool that day, having all of God’s mighty power, I would have run from sick person to sick person, laying hands on them, commanding healing; and then, when God didn’t heal them, go and complain to Jesus about a lack of results.

God doesn’t condemn us for making mistakes. Instead He teaches us through them.

The keys are repentance and obedience to Him. We are called to follow Him in everything, not just follow great principles. When we live with Him and see firsthand what He is doing to build His church, the miracles will come!
