God is always speaking to us but because we are constantly caught up with our busy lifestyles as “doing people,” we often don’t hear His voice.

In the Gospels, God spoke through His Son, Jesus Christ. The Gospel of John begins; “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God….. The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us.” (John 1, 14). God became a human being in the Person of Jesus Christ. When we see Jesus, we see God because Jesus “is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of His being, sustaining all things by His powerful word.” (Hebrews 1:3). We know God when we know His Son, Jesus Christ.

God wants us to have a love relationship with Him so that as we quieten ourselves and enter into His presence, we will be able to hear His voice and be led by Him. Jesus said in John 10:27 & 28; “My sheep hears my voice; I know them and they follow me. I give them eternal life and they shall never perish.”

Study the Gospels, listen to the words of Jesus, speak to God and obey all of Jesus’ teachings. God the Father will reveal Himself to you as you develop a clearer understanding of Jesus Christ.

In the book of Acts and in our present day, God speaks to us by the Holy Spirit. When we make Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour, the Holy Spirit makes residence in our lives. 1Corinthians 3:16 says “You yourselves are God’s temple and …… God’s Spirit lives in you.” Because the Holy Spirit lives in you, He can speak to you clearly and at any time through the Bible, through impressions and promptings in your heart.

God also speaks through:

  • His prophets (Hebrews 1:1)

  • Angels (Gen 16)

  • Visions (Gen 15)

  • Dreams (Gen 28; 10-19, Daniel 1:17 & Matthew 2:13 & 19)

  • Symbolic actions (Jeremiah 18:1-10)

  • A gentle whisper (1Kings 19:12)

  • Miraculous signs (Exodus 8;20-25)

So, open your hearts with humility and allow God to reveal Himself to you. Be willing to work with God as He reveals His plans and purposes for you and for others.

God bless you.
